§ 66-26. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Harbor consists of Pere Marquette Lake; the channel connecting such lake with the waters of Lake Michigan; the Pere Marquette River and its branches; all slips, piers, docks and basins adjacent to or connecting with any of such waters; and the waters of Lake Michigan, including all breakwaters, piers and permanent structures therein, for a distance of one-half mile from shore between the north and south lines of the city extended to the extent that the waterways named in this definition are within the territorial limits of the city.

    Vessel, craft or float includes every kind of sailing, steam or other vessel lying or floating in or navigating the harbor.
